The leadership team of Spa School in Bermondsey (‘Outstanding in all areas’, Ofsted 2015-16) are working closely with Southwark Council and the Department for Education to open a much needed new special school in 2019.
Spa School Camberwell will be a specialist school for up to 120 pupils aged 5—16 with autism.
The school will be in Southampton Way in SE5, in the beautiful Victorian school building currently hosting Charter School (who are moving out later in 2018).
Before it opens a number of buildings on the current site will be demolished and the main building will have a new extension to ensure the school has all the facilities it needs.
The grounds will include a greenhouse, lovely gardens, separate primary and secondary play areas, a multi-use games area and outdoor play and gym equipment.
As well as classrooms the school will have a number of small group rooms, a library, sports hall, dining room, and specialist rooms for teaching food technology, drama, art, music and science
